Midas Verona Each part of the church body is important. Some parts are highly visible, such as the worship team, greeters and ushers, or home group leaders.
Then there are the less obvious, but equally important, parts. The Tech Team works behind the scenes, making it possible for the entire congregation to see and hear what is being presented. The Tech Team consists of several areas: audio, video, lighting and stage.
Audio includes mixing for the stage (monitors) as well as the house. this also involves controlling all the audio for the worship team, videos, DVDs and background CDs. This subteam may include the front of house engineer and monitor engineer.
Video/IMAG is concerned with anything on the IMAG system (Image Magnification) and recording the service for use for broadcast or DVD/VHS duplication. This may also include the following: computer-generated slides from applications like PowerPoint or a worship lyrics software package as well as video and DVD playback. This subteam may include director, technical director, camera operators, floor manager, chyron/CG operator and others.
Lighting involves setting up the lighting board, aiming fixtures, changing burn-out lamps, operating follow-spots and intelligent (motion) lighting, and programming cues. This team may include the lighting director, console operator, or lighting designer.
The Stage team deals with the physical set up and tear down of the stage, pulpit or platform area, from the band and vocalist needs to platforms, risers and sets, etc. This team may include the stage manager, floor manager, grip, gofer, gaffer, etc.
The Tech Team is not limited to these definitions or groupings. It also, may not be necessary to encompass all of these areas or may include other areas not mentioned here. That is a matter of the technical needs of a given church or ministry.
The primary focus of these subteams is to work together to assist the pastor, worship teams, or perform bring forth the Word through their particular area expertise or calling.
